Starting from 2007, HKDCS will carry out monthly boat surveys to collect additional data on the Chinese white dolphins (Indo-Pacific humpback dolphin) and Finless porpoises that are residing in Hong Kong waters for research purposes. We will take close-up photographs of the Chinese white dolphin, the unique markings on the animals, primarily on the dorsal fin. The photos will be used to build up a photo identification catalogue, which provides us with more information of some individuals' ranging patterns. HKDCS will also analyse the data in order to learn more about the dolphins' ecology.
